Gunslingers seeking revenge turned a piece of heaven into a gruesome, painful hell in the blink of an eye.

Created and written by Louise Doughty (Apple Tree Yard writer) on her first original television series, as we take a look at everything you need to know about the new limited series...

BBC Crossfire: Where is it filming?

crossfire isFilmed at the Hotel San Blas in the south of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands.Producers Chris Carey and CEO Lawrence Bowen explaineddiversity(opens in new tab), "Crossfire is set in Spain and we shot most of it in Tenerife." And show writer Louise Doughty (Apple Tree Yard) revealed that not all hotel guests knew a series was being filmed, leading to "a lot of impressive reactions" that forced them to join forces with other tourists and hotel staff. .

But Vikash Bhai (who plays Chinar) thinks the spacious hotel adds to the scare factor. He explained: "I think as a viewer you feel the tension quite palpably because the hotel is so open and it feels like nobody has anywhere to hide. So you can feel that fear, and I think that's probably what this space does. very well.

the recently renovatedbarcelona tenerife(opens in new tab)Resort "combines exclusive services and facilities, including SEVEN swimming pools, with the natural and cultural heritage of its beautiful location:directly on the sea and in the heart of a volcanic landscape" and is just 10 minutes from the airport. And guests who want something a little more luxurious can book a room at the exclusive Royal Level, an in-resort hotel where guests enjoy superior service, special benefits and private areas of the Royal Level.

Vikash added: “If you're lucky enough to be able to shoot in December in 28 degrees in the sun, I don't think you really have anything to complain about and we had a wonderful cast and crew. It was a really wonderful experience to do this for six weeks and then come to rainy London.

The show is so far positioned as a one-off limited series, "but who knows?" they provoked.

Is BBC Crossfire based on a true story?

crossfire isnot based on a true story, although gun attacks in resort towns took place in real life - creator and executive producer Louise Doughty revealed that it was inspired by real family vacations. She explained: “I came up with the idea for Crossfire while on holiday in Tenerife with my family. I love the Canary Islands, I've been there many, many times as it's one of our favorite vacation spots. I was lying in a sun.” Lying in a hotel complex one day; my family was scattered throughout the complex. I had a kid in the pool and one had run off somewhere and I couldn't help but think what if some sort of gun attack on the resort happened at that particular time.

“I was like, 'What would I do?' Of course, we'd all like to think we were being heroic; the truth is, not all of us would do that. Which child would I choose? Both were separated. Would I help people in the area? my; would I just save myself? How would I really behave? That was the idea of Crossfire. I wanted to write about an ordinary group of people; ordinary tourists from Britain, in a holiday hotel like this, when such an attack occurs. I wanted to write about the human choices we all make under pressure and, of course, the consequences of those choices that will reverberate for years to come."

Gun attacks on vacation resorts happened in real life. On June 26, 2015, a mass shooting took place in the resort town of Port El Kantaoui, about 10 kilometers north of the city of Sousse, Tunisia, killing almost 40 people.

Still, Crossfire is a story of survival and resilience. It's an exciting and nerve-wracking thriller, but it's also emotional, intimate and relatable. As unsuspecting tourists and hotel staff are forced to make monumental split-second life-and-death decisions, the consequences will linger long after the final shots are fired.

The first episode of my first original TV drama is @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer tonight at 9pm. I'll be watching with open fingers, but I couldn't be more grateful to @laurencejbowen @chriscareyWTPC @buddyclubprods @TessaHoffe, our entire crew and the fabulous cast led by Keeley Hawes. pic.twitter.com/g8IVbbGdmJSeptember 20, 2022

“Playing a character like Jo, who is really flawed; she's a confusing person and I kind of liked her and I found her quite endearing, I thought she's very interesting, quite complex, quite confusing and then I thought, God, I'm not sure I like her.
